Brita Sigourney is an Olympic bronze medalist, three-time X Games medalist, and the first female skier to land a 1080 in competition. She is both a talented and dedicated skier, with a long list of elite events and podium visits to prove it. Although she has had to deal with season ending injuries, Brita continues to come back each year, ready to dominate. On her 24th birthday, she secured her spot on the inaugural US Olympic halfpipe team in Park City; needless to say, there was much to be celebrated that day. Although Brita did not make it up the podium in 2014, she made the team yet again in 2018, this time coming home with a bronze medal.
Brita grew up with her parents and brother in Carmel, California. Her parents put her on skis once she was able to walk, they were and still are her biggest influencers and supporters. Living five hours from Alpine Meadows at Tahoe did not stop Brita from spending a large portion of her time there. Brita joined her home mountain’s freeskiing team when she was eight years old. At age fourteen, Brita participated in all five freestyle disciplines; moguls, aerials, big air, slopestyle and of course her signature, the halfpipe. Ever since then, she was obsessed. Brita attended UC Davis and played water-polo at school, until she had to pick between the two sports, and of course skiing won. When Brita is not skiing, she loves to hike, camp and swim.
